'Speed Racer' that is. Turns out the Wachowski's ('Matrix Trilogy') are making a live action Speed Racer movie and they just cast Christina Ricci in the flick. ComingSoon.net is reporting that Emile Hirsch, Susan Sarandon and John Goodman are also on board.'Speed Racer' centers on a young race car driver, Speed (Hirsch), and his quest for glory in his thundering, gadget-laden vehicle Mach 5. Ricci will star as Speed's girlfriend Trixie, his formidable ally on and off the track.
I had heard they were making this but I didn't know who was directing it. Having the Brothers Wachowski aboard makes me pretty excited and adding Christina Ricci is even better. Goodman and Sarandon seem like strange choices however. Well we at least know that the movie will have insanely high production values and excellent cinematography.
The brothers are aiming for a May 9th 2008 release. So far away!!
